About
Dr. Aaron Lynn Washington II
Founder & Principal Scientist, Aaron Washington Labs. Physicist. Engineer. Program leader. Civic servant.
Mission
Science in service of people and progress
Aaron Washington Labs was founded on a simple conviction: that the most complex scientific and engineering challenges are best solved by organizations that combine deep technical expertise with a genuine commitment to human impact.
Dr. Washington brings that conviction to every engagement — whether developing next-generation sensor systems, leading multi-million-dollar R&D programs, or mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The most powerful thing a scientist can do is make their work matter beyond the laboratory.
Career Arc
From national labs to the fusion frontier
Began a distinguished national laboratory career at SRNL, developing expertise in nuclear materials, sensor systems, and applied radiation detection. Built foundational skills in DOE project environments and large-scale R&D program execution.
Advanced to senior technical and program leadership roles, managing multi-million-dollar portfolios across sensors, polymer science, and nuclear technology. Earned PMP certification and led cross-functional teams through complex, milestone-driven programs.
Joined the commercial fusion frontier at Tokamak Energy, applying national laboratory expertise to next-generation fusion reactor development. Focused on neutron diagnostics, plasma-facing materials, and the technology transition from research to commercial deployment.
Founded Aaron Washington Labs to bring multidisciplinary science and engineering expertise to government, commercial, and nonprofit partners. Continues active research, consulting, and civic leadership across eight capability domains.
